• Conn Creek Winery – a unique gem in the heart of the Napa Valley

  • Conn Creek’s enduring commitment to Bordeaux-styled red wines started in 1973 when it was founded by Bill and Kathy Collins. Conn Creek was among a small group leading a renaissance of the Napa Valley and played an important part in establishing Napa Valley’s reputation as a fine wine growing region. In 1979, the Collins family built what is now Conn Creek Winery in the Rutherford appellation. This energy-efficient facility was perhaps the first “green” winery building in Napa Valley and includes 12”-thick walls made of Styrofoam, steel mesh, gunite and a total of 20,000 corks. Today, nearly 40 years after its founding, Conn Creek is still focused on what Napa Valley does best: Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux varietals.

Our Winemaker

Jean Hoefliger

  • Born and raised in Switzerland, Jean Hoefliger’s journey into winemaking is one of passion, precision, and relentless pursuit of excellence. From the rolling vineyards of Bordeaux to the storied estates of South Africa, his early career was shaped by some of the world’s most esteemed wineries, including Château Lynch-Bages, Château Carbonnieux, and Meerlust. After earning a degree in viticulture and enology from the prestigious Swiss Federal School of Changins, Jean set his sights on California, where he spent five years crafting wines of distinction as Winemaker at Newton Vineyard.

Recognized for his visionary approach, Jean was soon invited to lead Alpha Omega as both Winemaker and General Manager, a role that deepened his connections with Napa Valley’s premier growers and allowed him to pioneer a world-class Direct-to-Consumer program. His influence in the industry grew, and by 2005, he expanded his expertise as a Consulting Winemaker, curating exceptional wines for renowned producers in Napa Valley, Switzerland, and Italy. His portfolio includes collaborations with Howell Mountain’s Clark Claudon, the ultra-premium Decades 5, Armanino Family Cellars, Yount Ridge, and Speratus—a boutique winery dedicated to supporting educational scholarships.

Jean’s artistry lies in his ability to marry tradition with innovation, crafting wines that are both profound and timeless. His scientific expertise, intuitive talent, and deep reverence for terroir allow him to transform the finest grapes into wines of extraordinary elegance and complexity.

At Conn Creek, Jean brings his passion, precision, and global perspective to create wines that honor the past while shaping the future.
